Can We All Just Not...?

Not to be negative or anything, but can we all just stop being so negative?

Here's some ideas for the new year.

HAVE FUN!  Smile more. Greet people.  Lend a hand when you can.  Laugh more.  Be silly for crying out loud!  Let's just have fun and focus on the positive.  Post fun and silly stuff to your FB page to make people smile and laugh, and let's back down on all the cranky negative posts.

Yes, there are millions of bad things going on in the world, but there are millions of GOOD things as well!  Can we just start focusing on the good instead of trying to stir up controversy?  As Louis CK says, "Everything is amazing and nobody is happy!"  So, be happy, dammit!

And can we just not troll people's Twitter and Facebook pages to leave negative BS comments and bring everyone down?  Sometimes a fun post is simply a fun post, Debbie Downer!  Like your mother always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

How about sending a simple, 30-second note of encouragement to your friends?  Seriously, how many FB friends to you have?  350?  900?  1700?  Whatever, divide that by 364 and alphabetically send a quick message to a few people each day until you go through your list.  How can this hurt?  Maybe it will rekindle a friendship that has gone dormant?  If you simply pull up your friend's page and scroll a little to get caught up on their life, it's easy to do and will really put a smile on someone's face.  Can you do it?

Ever thought about stealing someone's check at a restaurant?  Maybe you had a good week, got a bigger bonus than expected, had something go right in your budget and there's a few extra dollars in your pocket.  Wouldn't it totally make someone's day if you bought their lunch?  Heck, if you see cops, firefighters, or military personnel out and about, pay for their sandwich once or twice a year!  These people risk their lives daily to keep you and your family safe while they are away from their loved ones who sit at home and worry about them.  It's a simple thing that goes a long way.

And then there's the Pope.  I mean, how do you not love this guy?  I don't care what religion you are, or if you don't believe in any of it, this man has done an amazing job of reminding people that life is about caring, accepting, and supporting each other.  Take a look at his suggestions for 2015, and even ignore the "God" stuff if you don't believe in it.

I believe Pope Francis just dropped the mic, so I'm done.  Happy 2015!
